The story of academy student: Alycia Bezgo

Can you share a defining moment in your musical journey that motivated you to pursue a career in the industry?

I used to be a dancer, but then I got hurt. So, I decided to do something else with music because my dad was a DJ, and he inspired me while I was growing up. Later, I found out about Peggy Gou, she became my big inspiration. That was also when I first got into electronic music. I still really look up to female DJs like Peggy Gou and Fiona Zanetti.

What challenges have you faced as a beginner, and how have you overcome them?

At first, I wasn't very confident about my skills. But by playing at gigs often and getting used to people watching me, I got better. I've grown a lot new skills and gained more confidence through my journey.

How do you stay inspired and continue evolving your sound in an ever-changing music landscape?

I love finding new music every day. I also try to stay in touch with all the new releases from the artist that inspires me.

How do you approach the creative process when producing a new track or curating a playlist?

When I'm putting together my music sets, I think about a mood or feeling. Then, I pick songs or make playlists that match that feeling. I don't make music yet, that's up next.

Personal tips for beginning DJ’s and producers?

Going to events like Tomorrowland Academy helps me improve and meet people in the music industry.

What impact do you want your music to have on listeners

The best part for me is when people are happy listening to my music. I want them to feel connected on the dance floor—just good vibes.

What can people expect from you in the future?

I just finished my press kit, and I've got some mixtapes coming soon. I'm working hard on my career and it would be awesome to perform at big events festivals like Tomorrowland or do a set with a famous DJ like Fiona. I want to travel, do lots of gigs, and start making my own songs!

As a Tomorrowland Academy graduate, what message do you want to convey to others aspiring to follow in your footsteps?

Work on your skills, love what you do, ask for help when you need it, and make time for your passion.
