Relive: Summer bootcamp

Across three weeks this summer, more than 150 students from every corner of the globe came to Boom for the Tomorrowland Academy Adult Bootcamp. Den Oven, just a short walk from De Schorre, turned into a home base where DJs and producers lived and breathed music from morning to evening.

Days moved between hands-on production and DJ training, artist-led masterclasses, and conversations about the industry. Ableton sessions focused on building tracks from the ground up, while DJ classes pushed deeper into transitions, looping, mixing in key, layering effects, and testing setups from the RMX-1000 to the EUPHONIA rotary mixers and Pioneer DJ DJM-V10's. Panel talks brought in the voices of R3hab, Pegassi, Lucas & Steve, Antdot, Andromedik, and the Tomorrowland bookers, offering direct insight into what it takes to make it onto a festival line-up. Even Timofey, producer for David Guetta, joined for an in-depth discussion on his production work and creative process.

Next to the technical side. Motivational sessions dug into what it really takes to build a music career, how to handle setbacks without losing momentum, and how to keep moving forward when things get difficult. Industry-focused talks broke down the roles of managers, bookers, and the other key players behind the scenes, giving a clear picture of the network that makes a DJ’s career possible. Social media and branding classes explored how to go viral, connect with the right audience, and create a professional presspack that opens doors.

The highlight came when the learning was put to action in the showcase moment. Students were given rare access to a behind-the-scenes tour and stepped up to the stage in Club Carré or Tomorrowland, playing their own showcase set!

Kids between the ages of 8 and 15 dived into the basics of DJing with hands-on sessions focused on beatmatching, looping, and mixing in key. Alongside the decks, workshops like how to make a rider and a fun music quiz added extra layers to the experience. A special guest dropped in to share stories and inspire the youngsters! 

The week built up to an unforgettable moment when the kids took to the decks at the Tomorrowland Neighborhood Party. Playing in front of an enthusiastic crowd of family, friends, and festivalgoers, they showed off everything they’d learned with energy, making their first real festival performance a memory to last a lifetime.
